Objective of the Event:
The Centre for Women Studies and discipline of Sociology in collaboration with Connect Signal Ngo organised a field trip to Shrirampura Village. The participants included PG students of sociology domain. The students visited the centre which was operated by Connect Signal Ngo to financially empower the women of that area. Under the BOSCH CSR project all the set up for sewing centre is provided to them. The ladies learn sewing and they were paid for the bags and kurtas they make there on daily basis. The Centre in charge told the students about the mobilization and batch formation for the classes. Pushpa ji who was the care taker told that they not only teach the female candidates but also provide them job opportunities. Many of the females who have completed their training are working in textile industries in sitapura. Students interacted with the females and tried to find out the daily problems they face.
As a part of awareness generation some basic yoga asanas were taught to the ladies by the student of MSW. These asanas can ease the pain during menstrual flow. Also, Surya namaskar was demonstrated. Females took a keen interest in learning these asanas and assured that they will make it a part of their daily routine. Two students Chanchal and Chahat highlighted the personal hygiene techniques of hand washing and oral health through posters. Females of different age group shared the health issues they face in day-to-day life.
Outcome of the Event: The event helped the students to understand the community building programs and how the corporate’s social responsibility helps to empower the vulnerable section of the society. Awareness about health and personal hygiene was also spread among the rural females which can protect them from various diseases. By teaching yoga asanas the students attempt to bring a small change in the lifestyle and enlighted the females to think about their health prior to all other duties.
