The Department of Sociology in collaboration with the Centre for Women’s Studies organized a field visit to NevtaVillage .The visit started with the visit to the government school in Nevta where the students got involved in various swacchta activities including cleaning of the school and making the school students aware about the importance of maintaining regular cleanliness in their homes, school and community as well. They also oriented them about the importance of personal hygiene. For students of class 9 and 10, a career counselling session was conducted by the volunteers. They inducted them about the different career options available after class 10 and 12 and motivated them to plan their career in a way that they can support their families in the future. In the latter part of the visit, a tie and dye workshop was conducted for the women and children of the community. The aim of the workshop was to develop a vocational skill among the women so that they could support their families and become financially independent. The workshop was conducted by DrSunetraDutt, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion and Textile, IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur.
Further, as a part of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) program, Dr. Pragya Sharma, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology guided students to conduct resource planning, socialplanning, wealthmapping, transit walking and focused group interview with the help of villagers.
The field visit aided the particiants in personality development by providing them a hands-on experience on community service and teaching them team work.
