We live in the era of inclusive globalisation that cuts across the cultural boundaries too. We do realize that a lot of issues that we face today are global in nature and this is the reason why we have international socio-political associations increasing and there is a growing discourse problems global in nature. Rosewitha discussed the issue of ageing population and its implications on the world. She shared her experiences regarding the challenges that a nation may face due to a problematic age structure and how important it is to plan for the future population. She reported how in European nations the ageing of population is creating issues and the problems of lower fertility. Ms Sow highlighted the strategies adopted by their country to deal with problems of ageing and how more resources are directed towards the segment of the population that needs more assistance. The students were indulged in cross-cultural comparisons as Ms Rosewitha discussed the challenges in the field of social work and how as students they can get conceptual clarity. This was an interactive session and had many “takeaways” for the students.
