Report on Guest Lecture on “Models of Sustainability: Evolving Social Enterprises and Fund Raising Strategies”

On 5th January, 2019 the Department of Sociology and Centre for Swacch Bharat, Swastha Bharat organized a lecture on “Models of Sustainability: Evolving Social Enterprises and Fund Raising Strategies”. The lecture was delivered by Akhilesh Maheshwari,Founder and Director, Naya Savera(NGO),Jaipiur in Seminar room where we had students of BA hons ,MSW and MA.Mr Maheshwari has been working in the field of social development over the past ten years. Naya Savera is a youth based non-governmental organization that aims to work towards providing a healthy, nurtured and nourished lifestyle to people who are deprived of facilities due to poverty and lack of opportunities. It is currently working on many projects like “SAKSHAM”-Overall Community Development Programme, Campaign Santushti, Campaign “Days of Pride” and many more.

   In his lecture Mr Akhilesh Maheshwari discussed the importance of fund raising in the NGO. He also introduced the participants to many exclusive examples and challenges in the world of social development. He shared his own experiences on how and why funds play an important role in making NGO work efficiently .As per him ,the key to successful NGO is its fund management. It is an art which requires a lot of patience and hard work. The organizations from all the sectors have to be convinced towards making contributions for the social causes. People are willing to help but it requires proper communication and explanation of the objectives of the NGO.
