On the occasion of International Woman`s Day, Centre for Women’s Studies and Department of Sociology & Social Work of the university organized a legal awareness session on New Criminal Laws. The event began with a warm welcome to the attendees and a special introduction of the esteemed guest, Ms. Aarzoo Khan.

Ms. Aarzoo Khan commenced the session by providing an overview of the existing legal framework related to crimes against women. She emphasized the importance of understanding one's rights and legal recourse in such situations. She highlighted recent amendments in criminal laws, such as stricter penalties for offenses like sexual assault, harassment, and domestic violence. She discussed how these changes aimed to provide better protection and justice for women. She elucidated the legal procedures involved in filing complaints, registering FIRs (First Information Reports), and pursuing legal action against perpetrators. She explained the role of law enforcement agencies and the judiciary in ensuring justice for victims.

Emphasizing the importance of women's rights, Ms. Khan discussed various legal provisions aimed at safeguarding women's dignity, safety, and equality. She elaborated on laws against dowry harassment, workplace harassment, and other forms of gender-based violence.

In conclusion, the session conducted by Ms. Arzoo  Khan proved to be informative and enlightening. It succeeded in raising awareness among students about changes in criminal laws, particularly concerning women's rights.
