Objective of the Event:

1. To foster a deeper understanding about Breast cancer, holistic care, and ways of treatment.

2. To raise awareness about the challenges faced by the cancer patients and to highlight the importance of early detection and treatment.

Summary

Dr Pragya Sharma, the Additional Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, introduced members of Sanjeevani Life Beyond Cancer to the villagers and the students of IISU. It was followed by an awareness session conducted by Ms Archita Verma, Senior Programme Coordinator at Sanjeevani Life Beyond Cancer. She covered a comprehensive range of topics including what is cancer, how cancer cell is developed, how to prevent and the ways of treatment subsequently she emphasized on discussing ways to maintain a strong immune system she divided the concept of immunity in two three aspects.

Firstly, she highlighted the importance of consuming food that is free from chemicals. This means opting for organic and natural food options to promote a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, she mentioned the significance of consuming nutrient supplements to ensure that the body receives all the necessary vitamins and minerals. Secondly, Archita Verma talked about the importance of meditation. She encouraged everyone to engage in meditation and breathing exercises, which can help reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing. Lastly, she stressed the significance of our thinking patterns

The event concluded with Teej celebration where students of IISU engaging with the women of the rural community. As part of the celebration students joined local women in applying mehndi {Heena} as a form of cultural expression. Furthermore, the field visit also involved sapling plantation as a part of environmental sustainability efforts.

Outcome of the Event: The event not only raised awareness about the challenges faced by cancer patients but it also inspired renewed dedication among both students and faculty to take care of their own health.
