Objective: 

The course plan aims to introduce the students to the fundamentals of various quantitative methods which are useful in research. Knowledge of certain quantitative methods and statistical techniques to analyze the data would help them to organize the information gathered by them.

Unit I: 
  • Statistics: Meaning, Functions, Characteristics of Statistical data
  • Scope of Statistics
     
Unit II: 
  • Statistical Inquiries and Sampling: Population, Census enumeration, Law of Statistical Regularity, Law of Large numbers.
Unit III: 
  • Classification of data: Meaning, Characteristics, Types.
  • Tabulation of data: Objectives, Rules, Types.
     
Unit IV: 
  • Diagrammatic Representation of data: Characteristics, Types, Significance, Simple and Multiple Bar.
Unit V: 
  • Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median, Mode
  • Dispersion: Range, Quartile Deviation, Standard Deviation
