Prof Doshi gave his expert talk on application of sociological perspective in research methods. He said that human behavior cannot be studied like material substances. Social facts cannot be treated as things. The study should also include cultural aspects. Quest for knowledge is very important. A researcher should have strong observation skills and should have specific research questions in mind. The review of literature should be done systematically and ICSSR publications should be referred for the research work. The conclusion should be linked with existing knowledge. He also threw light on various aspects of ethnomethodology, basic foundations of research and precautions to be observed during field work. The students raised several questions related to field work and sampling procedures. It was an interactive and enlightening session.
